Stay Healthy In This Monsoon Through Ayurveda.

Monsoon means everywhere there is greenery and natural beauty. Colourful flowers, green shades of leaves, scent of wet earth and sometimes rainbow in the sky make us very happy. Ayurveda, a science of healthy living also have description of monsoon under the title of Rutuchary. In Ayurveda different types of daily regime are mentioned in each and every season. External environment has tremendous effects on our body. In Ayurveda, whole year is divided in 6 Rutus, Shishir, Vasant, Grishma, Varsha, Sharad and Hemant. All the movements inside the body are carried out through 3 Doshas namely, Vata, Pitta and Kapha.

In monsoon i. e. in Varsha Rutu, due to seasonal change Vata dosha is aggravated and Pitta dosha  gets accumulated in the body. In this season our digestive fire (Jatharagni) and body strength (Sharir bal) both are very low. Therefore, whatever we eat in monsoon, it is not properly digested. This undigested food matter also known as Ama dosha. As per Ayurveda, Ama is responsible  for many diseases like, indigestion, anorexia, loose motions, bloating, joint pain, swelling of joints etc. Also in monsoon season, environment and sometimes water is also contaminated with many factors like virus or bacteria, etc which lead to many infectious diseases like fever, cough, cold, loose motions, vomiting etc

It is important to do a change in diet and in behaviour to stay healthy in monsoon. There is poor digestive fire, to enhance it, we have to take freshly prepared and easily digestible food. We have to include sattu, moong dal khichadi, hot vegetable soups, food prepared with wheat, sathi chawal, mangoes, lemon, jamun fruits, leukwarm water, til tel massaging daily regime. One should avoid heavy to digest food like food prepared with maida, udad dal, chana dal, sprouts, leafy vegetables, cold and fermented food like dosa, idli, dhokla, stale food and water, non-veg food, etc.

Along with this healthy diet and behaviour, we should keep some herbal medicines handy in this season. Sandu Makarprash, which is an excellent immunity booster, each and every family member should consume it daily. Sandu Mahasudarshan kadha, Tab Corysan, Vasajeevani are unique herbal formulations for common viral infections. Aptilift and Digiforte are the best appetizer and digestive ayurvedic medicines.

The crux of matter, if we follow all the rules and regimens advocated by Ayurveda, we can stay healthy and can enjoy the natural beauty of the monsoon.
